குறள் அமுதம்

 

 

 

கண்ணிற் கணிகலங் கண்ணோட்டம் அஃதின்றேற்
புண்ணென் றுணரப் படும்.

குறள் விளக்கம் 

 

 

மு.வ : ஒருவனுடைய கண்ணுக்கு அணிகலமாவது கண்ணோட்டம் என்னும் பண்பே, அஃது இல்லையானால் புண் என்று உணரப்படும்.

சாலமன் பாப்பையா : ஒருவன் கண்ணிற்கு அணியும் நகை கண்ணோட்டமே; அந்த நகை மட்டும் இல்லை என்றால் அது புண் என்று பெரியோரால் அறியப்படும்.

	Benignity is eyes’ adorning grace; Without it eyes are wounds disfiguring face. ( Kural No : 575 )   Kural Explanation: Kind looks are the ornaments of the eyes; without these they will be considered (by the wise) to be merely two sores.
